Dr. Steve Storck

Project Manager

Dr. Steve Storck is the project manager of the Chesapeake Conservancy’s Conservation Innovation Center, which empowers conservation with applications for data-driven decision-making. The team works to improve the health of the Chesapeake Bay watershed using high-resolution datasets, geospatial analysis and data science to advance conservation practice. The CIC team supports the Chesapeake Bay Program and conservation partners by providing data and insights to prioritize restoration practices, evaluate alternatives and identify solutions for effective implementation.

He has worked in the outdoor recreation and environmental education fields with a specialization in recreation ecology of trails. Prior to coming to the CIC, Dr. Storck worked with the NOAA Office of Education, the River Management Society and at various colleges and universities in adventure recreation management academic and student life programs.

He holds a Ph.D. in recreation resource management with an emphasis in GIS from West Virginia University, a master’s degree in leisure services management from Virginia Commonwealth University and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Frostburg State University. Dr. Storck splits his time between his home on the Youghiogheny River in Garrett County, Md., and his sailboat on Mill Creek in Annapolis.
