Chesapeake Conservancy Welcomes Conowingo Dam Cleanup Settlement Terms

Annapolis, MD – Chesapeake Conservancy President and CEO Joel Dunn issued this statement following the release of settlement terms between the state of Maryland and Exelon concerning Conowingo Dam cleanup.

“Chesapeake Conservancy welcomes the terms of the settlement deal reached between Exelon and the state of Maryland concerning Conowingo Dam cleanup.

”We are glad to see that upstream restoration is part of the package as that will help address these issues at the source. Focusing on best management practices upstream, guided by the latest technology and data, will create a lasting solution that addresses sediment and nutrients entering the Susquehanna watershed at their source.
