Chesapeake Conservancy Hosts First Annual Chesapeake Champions Awards Celebration

Awards Recognized Dedication and Leadership of Policymakers, Individuals, and Companies in the Protection and Restoration of the Chesapeake Bay

Annapolis, MD – The Chesapeake Conservancy hosted its first annual Chesapeake Champions Dinner and Celebration on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at the Governor Calvert House in Annapolis, MD.

Surrounded by kayaks, oars, crab pots and detailed maps of the Bay, its rivers and special places, hundreds of attendees came to celebrate the dedication and leadership of policymakers, individuals, and companies in the protection and restoration of the Chesapeake Bay. As the guests dined on the bounties of the Chesapeake, there was a special guest appearance by Captain John Smith.

The first recipients of the award included U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski, Mr. Keith Campbell and Skyline Technology Solutions.

Joel Dunn, executive director of the Chesapeake Conservancy, gave a moving and passionate speech about those who have dedicated their careers, their philanthropic efforts and their time to the Chesapeake Bay.
