As director of institutional giving, Allison Anderson builds institutional partnerships with private and corporate organizations to achieve Chesapeake Conservancy’s bold mission and goals. Anderson has an extensive background with environmental education and conservation work, having served as the assistant director of the Howard County Conservancy for 13 years, playing a key role in growing that organization from a four-person staff to eighteen with nationally recognized programming.
Prior to that, Anderson managed the environmental grant programming at the Community Colleges of Baltimore County, which included creation of the Maryland Environmental Business Alliance and hosting the first Maryland Governor’s Youth Environmental Summit. Anderson earned her degree in biology and environmental science and chose to advance the nonprofit education and conservation sphere in Maryland. With over 25 years’ experience in environmental fundraising and grant management, Anderson has prospected, written, managed and evaluated successful projects with partners from the national to local levels. Anderson is also a graduate of the Leadership Howard County Premier program and co-chair of their Steering Committee.
Growing up and going to college in Pennsylvania, vacationing along the mid-Atlantic coast and volunteering her time as a Maryland Master Naturalist, Anderson’s love of nature is personal and professional. With a husband and son, the family enjoys camping, hiking, kayaking and traveling to beautiful natural places. Anderson is happiest in nature, especially on a beach!
