Chesapeake Conservancy Issues Statement on ConserveVA 2.0

Richmond, VA – Chesapeake Conservancy President and CEO Joel Dunn issued this statement following Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s release of his ConserveVA 2.0 plan.

“We wish to express our strong support for the recent announcement by Governor Northam and his Administration regarding Conserve Virginia 2.0. This update adds important geospatial data to the cutting edge, original Conserve Virginia, especially the new water quality layer and enhancements to the existing scenic and cultural layers.
“These geospatial mapping tools will assist the local land conservation community across Virginia to connect their individual conservation actions to the larger landscapes of which they are a part. Equally important, Conserve Virginia 2.0 will allow conservationists to target acquisitions that achieve multiple benefits including water quality, habitat protection, and climate resiliency. This will promote the optimization of the benefits of every dollar expended to conserve those valuable lands cherished by Virginians and visitors.”
