Chesapeake Conservancy Applauds the EMBRACE Act
Washington, DC – Chesapeake Conservancy President and CEO Joel Dunn issued this statement regarding the “Enhancing Military Base Resilience and Conserving Ecosystems through Stormwater Management” (EMBRACE Act). The bipartisan bill, introduced by U.S. Representative Bobby Scott (VA-03), a co-chair of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Task Force, seeks to mitigate extreme flooding on military bases.
“Chesapeake Conservancy applauds the EMBRACE Act, which would enhance military readiness and reduce pollution runoff into waterways through better stormwater management practices on military installations here in the Chesapeake Bay watershed and beyond. The Department of Defense is an important partner in the Chesapeake Bay, and this legislation is especially timely as we work to mitigate the impacts of climate change which will likely include increased rainfall and storms in our region.”
