Champions of the Chesapeake

The annual Champions of the Chesapeake awards is a chance to celebrate the accomplishments of the Chesapeake’s biggest advocates. We will celebrate revolutionary leaders and ideas that can change the world and protect the Chesapeake.

October 15, 2017

Space is limited for this invitation-only cocktail reception taking place on October 15, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at George Washington’s Mount Vernon. This year we will honor:

  • Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association for their leadership in preserving this national treasure, and their work to found Piscataway National Park–the first national park founded in our country to protect a historic viewshed.
  • Maryland Governor Larry Hogan for his historic investment of $3 billion in Bay restoration efforts, including fully funding the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund and Program Open Space.
  • Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe who has successfully protected 1,000 natural and historic treasures in Virginia.
  • Microsoft powers much of our precision conservation, helping us create the data we need, faster, better and less expensive than before. Together with our partners, we are enhancing conservation through technology for the Chesapeake and beyond.
